Learn advanced stagecraft and technical theatre production with Southern State Community College’s Theatre and Communications Department—built for students, theatre technicians, and community collaborators who want hands-on, production-ready skills. Across two focused learning units, you’ll master the full workflow from pre-production planning through backstage execution: drafting and reading technical documentation, designing safe scene/prop workflows, operating core stage equipment, and coordinating lighting/sound cues in real rehearsal conditions. By the end, you’ll be able to contribute confidently to a show team—producing clearer technical communication, safer staging habits, and a polished cue/crew plan that supports successful live performances.
